TLDR
Triptease is one of Gumloop's first success stories and a big reason we knew we were on the right path in the very early days.
They started off with a single user poking around the product and have since onboarded over 60 employees onto Gumloop in order to boost efficiency organization-wide with AI.
They're using the platform for more and more use cases every week but the initial lead enrichment/sales flows they built increased revenue wins by 207% in a five month period.
What does Triptease do?
Triptease is a UK based company in the travel space with a team of ~130. Their product helps hotels increase direct bookings with full funnel hotel marketing tools.
Read more about them on their website here.
The problem they were facing
Their previous process of spotting who they could sell to was extremely manual. They are providing an undeniably valuable service to Hoteliers but spotting which hoteliers are the best fit was the challenge.
Hundreds of hours a week were being wasted combing through leads for very niche signals of purchasing power and problem relevance.
Automating this would require connecting several internal systems with AI and web scraping. It'd call for building a totally custom software tool. This isn't ideal for a few reasons.
- It would take several months of work to build all the integrations and wrangle the LLM.
- The people who deeply understand the problem would have to spent time scoping out the solution and iterating with the engineering team.
- It would distract their engineering team from working on the core product.
Solving the problem with Gumloop
Using Gumloop, they deployed an AI workflow that performs the task end-to-end and started running it at massive scale. No coding required. Everything from spotting the lead, researching them and drafting outreach was 'gumlooped'. Hundreds of hours of work is reduced to a few clicks.
Web scraping + AI analysis/categorization + Internal system integrations like Databases, Google Sheets, Gmail = โจโจ
Gumloop acted as the engine to connect this data together into a single useful tool. An entirely non-technical team of employees was able to plug and play their way to having massive business impact at 5% of the expense an engineering team's efforts would have cost. All of their time was spent focusing on solving the problem rather than worrying about building integrations, managing infrastructure and engineering costs.
Tasks like speaking to the end customer, building the relationship and onboarding them is now given the spotlight instead of the boring repetitive aspects of the job.
Other members of the organization who weren't even familiar with Gumloop yet were also able to use their custom Gumloop flows via the Chrome Extension.
Other wins
We've noticed that the first use-case is only ever the tip of the iceberg. Once people get comfortable with the platform, the opportunity to be more efficient with AI becomes excitingly endless.
๐ PDF processing
Several times over the course of their usage, individuals within the company have had hyper manual ops tasks to perform that involved opening and categorizing hundreds of incoming pdfs. Before Gumloop existed these large batch tasks could eat up entire days of productive time from a given week.
Now that Gumloop has spread throughout the company, "Gumlooping" has become a verb. Building the flow takes a small fraction of the time that the task would and can forever be reused if the tasks arises again.
๐๏ธ News monitoring/news letter writing
They have a newsletter targeted at their ICP that's jam-packed of industry relevant news stories every month.
Their team used to manually read through news websites every week to aggregate the key stories, now a simple Gumloop flow is scheduled to watch for anything interesting. The monthly newsletter is still high quality but it takes half the time to put together because AI is doing the boring part of sifting through stories.
Impact
So far they've run 1.45 million nodes on the platform across 52 Gumloop users.
Gumloop hackathon
They reserved time at the company wide retreat to introduce everyone the platform and allow them to start automating their personal work! Everyone got a chance to learn about the power of the platform and start applying it to their individual roles within the business.
What we learned
No matter how useful the automation is, the bottleneck to adoption is usability
There's no point building the worlds most powerful automation if no one understands how to use it. This was a huge inspiration for our new Gumloop Chrome extension that allows all flows to be triggerable in browser.
Whenever a Triptease team member now builds a useful flow they think others can utilize, it'll be accessible via the extension and runnable with a single click.
Still a lot more to do in this regard but we're working on it!
