Announcing our $3.1M Seed Round Led by First Round

We started Gumloop just over 1 year ago as a side project, building for a small group of users in a Discord community who wanted to use AI to automate their work. It's grown into an AI automation platform that our users' businesses rely on daily and we couldn't be more excited about the direction we're building in.

We're excited to announce our seed round led by First Round Capital with participation from Y Combinator, Max Mullen (Instacart), Arash Ferdowsi (Dropbox), Andrew Ofstad (Airtable), Immad Akhund (Mercury), Kulveer Taggar (Zeus), Liquid2, WndrCo, Theory Forge Ventures (Ben Parr and Matt Schlicht), Richard Aberman(WePay), JJ Fliegelman(Wayup), Ludlow Ventures and a few more awesome angels.

Gumloop is making it easy for anyone to build powerful AI workflows, no AI expertise or coding needed.

Businesses Aren't Leveraging AI to Its Full Potential.

Most people want AI to do work for them but to automate anything beyond a single ChatGPT question, you needed to be able to code or to call in someone who did.

The people within a business who understand what needs automation don't have the tools or technical background to do anything about it. Only engineers can really make an impact with AI but they're normally busy, detached from the problem and expensive.

Businesses are running at a fraction of their full potential because of this bottleneck on who can and who can't leverage AI.

Gumloop Lets Anyone Build with AI

Gumloop is an automation platform that lets anyone drag and drop their way to fully automate their work. Users can create powerful AI powered workflows that integrate directly with their data, no coding experience needed.

These automations are called 'flows' and they're made up of nodes strung together. Nodes are like lego blocks that all perform a step in the larger workflow. Using these building blocks, you can do anything from automating your outbound to putting your complex business workflows on autopilot.

What Our Customers Are Doing With It

Every week, we see new industries starting to automate with Gumloop. We have every kind of user from independent indie hackers to unicorn startups. Here are a few examples from the past 2 months:

  • A Canadian accounting firm is automating their invoice processing end to end.
  • A growing startup in SF is automating their programmatic SEO content generation.
  • A PR firm is automating analysis of emerging news stories and sends detailed AI generated reports to their staff every morning.
  • A YC startup is automating the filtering of applications with Claude 3.5 Sonnet.
  • A travel company in New York is fully automating their customer research and personalized sales campaigns for hotels. They now have over 50 employees building custom flows.
  • A serial entrepreneur in Boston is building a new job hunting service completely powered by Gumloop with a Bubble frontend.
  • A company in India focused on influencer marketing is automating analysis of YouTube niches and personalized their outreach.
  • A large unicorn web tooling company analyzes every new YC company and Product Hunt launch to see who’s using them vs a competitor.

One of our earliest users runs a business that processes thousands of academic papers for universities, completely powered by Gumloop. They're saving over 200k annually by being able to build their AI powered product with their existing non-technical staff.

We now have almost half a million nodes being run on the platform every single day and teams automating hundreds of hours of wasted time away per week.

Small but Efficient Team

We're a really small team, 100% focused on building things our users love. At the moment we're two technical co-founders (+ an awesome intern).

We went to school together at McGill University in Montreal Canada and reconnected over a shared love for building at an AI meetup in Vancouver. We've been working on Gumloop together 24/7 since and just finished Y Combinator's W24 batch.

Most of our users think our team is ~5x bigger than it is. We're growing the team but want to stay lean and maintain this impact ratio. No bureaucracy, or frustrating red tape. Just building features daily for users as a small team who really cares.
